This spaceship was created from a concept piece by Tom McLean. For this model, procedural textures were used along with some black and white texture masks that were created in Photoshop with some custom brushes. The decal that is in the concept was replicated in Photoshop with some hand painted textures, in addition to masks for the cutout maps. The character and style from the concept art is captured well in this model. This model was built in 3DS Max and rendered in Mental Ray. The process is shown below the final renders starting from the beginning stages of blocking and on to the refinement of detail and textures.
